Anti Semitism is on the rise in the United Kingdom. Figures recorded by the Community Support Trust report a 531% increase in antisemitic incidents during the period since October 7 this year when compared to the same period in 2022. While many might attribute this increase to the current war in the Middle East following the terrorist massacre committed by Hamas, the upward trend has been evident for some time. What lies behind this alarming trend?
Join us for a discussion on December 11, 2023, from 18:30 to 20:00 (GMT), followed by drinks starting at 20:00

Stephen Pollard is Editor at Large of the Jewish Chronicle, a veteran journalist and commentator, author of several books and formerly the Editor of the Jewish Chronicle from 2008 until 2021. His history of Jewish migration, The Wandering Jew, will be published by Bloomsbury in 2026.
Professor Frank Furedi is Executive Director of think-tank MCC Brussels, social commentator and internationally renowned sociologist. He is a prolific author whose body of work address how problems of moral and political authority play out in different aspects of Western culture and societies today. His last book, 100 Years of Identity Crisis: culture war over socialisation, argues that the principal driver of the ‘crisis of identity’ was and continues to be the conflict surrounding the socialisation of young people. In turn, the politicisation of this conflict provides a terrain on which the culture wars and the politicisation of identity can flourish.
Khadija Khan is a journalist and commentator based in the UK. She writes for different publications, focusing on human rights, mainly women’s rights, as well as minorities and extremism.
Khadija sits on the Advisory Panel of DDU
Daniel Ben Ami is an author and journalist. Last year, he launched the Radicalism of Fools website, on rethinking anti-Semitism, in the belief that the mainstream discussion is failing to grapple with this thorniest of subjects. He has contributed to numerous national, specialist and international publications, and his books include Ferraris For All (2010) and Cowardly Capitalism (2001)
The evening will be chaired by Dr Alka Sehgal Cuthbert, Director of Don’t Divide Us.
